Vampire Survivors has announced the details of its 1.12 update, which coincides with the release of the Ode to Castlevania crossover DLC. The Ode to Castlevania expansion marks the third crossover DLC for Vampire Survivors, and it is not the first partnership between Konami and Poncle. In May 2024, the game previously collaborated with the Contra series, launching the Operation Guns expansion. This DLC introduced beloved characters such as Bill Rizer, Lance Bean, and Brad Fang, along with various explosive weapons designed to eliminate waves of adversaries. Notable weapons like the Long Gun, Sonic Bloom, and Blade Crossbow were also included, each capable of evolving into more formidable firearms, thereby enhancing players’ character customization options.

While Castlevania has previously collaborated with titles like Dead By Daylight in 2024, its partnership with Vampire Survivors was among the most anticipated projects for the latter. The patch notes for Vampire Survivors Patch 1.12 reveal the addition of over 20 new characters, more than 40 weapons, and their evolutions, and 36 song covers from the Castlevania series, including classics such as “Vampire Killer,” “Bloody Tears,” and “Requiem.” The Castlevania stage is the largest map introduced in Vampire Survivors to date, featuring diverse biomes and power-ups for players to gather. However, Poncle has indicated that, due to the extensive nature of the expansion, an Adventure mode for Ode to Castlevania was not available at launch, though they remain open to the possibility of adding one in the future. The combined download size for Vampire Survivors Patch 1.12 and the Ode to Castlevania expansion is 345 MB on Steam, with the DLC itself approximately 282 MB.
