At the moment, Ripple Effect is taking the lead on one of Battlefield 2042’s new modes, which is set to be revealed at EA Play later this month. One Battlefield 2042 mode still remains a mystery, and will likely not be revealed to fans until the EA Play Live event beginning on July 22nd, 2021. With a little under four months until players can experience Battlefield 2042, it is likely more information will be revealed before its full release.
In a recent interview with Eurogamer, when asked about the lack of single-player mode in Battlefield 2042, the design director Daniel Berlin had this to say – “If you look at the DNA of the studio, what we’ve been doing for so long, we just said you know what, we’re not going to have a traditional single-player campaign this time around, but we’re going to put all that emphasis and all those resources into building depth into the multiplayer.
That conversation died down in recent years, even with Battlefield V dropping in 2018, and with the ongoing popularity of CoD battle royale Warzone, it’s hard to imagine anything overtaking it. Whilst they can’t use the Wingsuit, they do have the intelligence to decide between engaging with you via enemy fire, flanking, throwing grenades or even reviving a downed squad mate.
Players will also be given an option to either play against AI bots or solo or with their friends in a squad. If you want to play Psychonauts or Humankind, which I’m hearing fun things about, then you can use your new card to save on that subscription. Remember when Call of Duty was putting out these big trailers and then it was back and forth between Battlefield? Some players suggested pausing and then resuming the game; however, this will only progress the mission so much.
The undercover mission in Paris called “Liberation” was also memorable, as it changed up the gameplay in a memorable way. The Battlefield 2042 gameplay trailer was the most-watched trailer at E3 2021 and looks to have come top of the show, at least when it comes to eyes on the game. We attended a virtual preview for Battlefield Portal recently and can safely say that it looks to be the “love letter” to Battlefield fans that EA promised. I’m interested to see how things play out between console players with controllers versus PC players using a mouse and keyboard, but I suppose if you PTFO you can be effective either way.
This will all be done in a closed environment and under a strict NDA – you don’t want to miss out! There are some big changes coming to Battlefield 2042. The new specialist system essentially gets rid of classes; instead, players will choose named mercenaries with two unique abilities and a customizable loadout. Battlefield 2042 is available for preorder now and fully releases on October 22nd, 2021 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Debuting at the publisher’s press conference on Saturday, the trailer has now surpassed 4 million views.
And finally, just like old times, Nintendo is hosting the final major press conference of E3 on Tuesday, June 15th at 12PM ET. Nintendo is always the last of the major players to host an E3 showcase, and this year was no different. Battlefield 2042 is going to be the last installment in the Battlefield franchise. So when does the new Battlefield game come out? The game has already been announced and a trailer for the same is also released by EA. The gameplay trailer shows tanks shooting down helicopters, which unceremoniously collapse in a heap of flames among the sandy dunes, while soldiers crawl all over the map like well-armored ants.

Whether or not this offer applies to Xbox Game Pass subscribers, who get EA Play included as part of their membership, is currently unknown. We’re certainly hoping that Battlefield 2042 can put a Battlefield game back into our list of the best multiplayer games on PC. It’s entirely possible the Breath of the Wild sequel see itself atop of this list in a week or so.
